Classification about “lifting accessory” and equipment used for lifting
This classification was approved by the Machinery Working Group as a basis for a consistent application of the term ‘lifting accessory’ in Directive 98/37/EC. The document gives examples of equipment that are considered as lifting accessories and other examples of equipment used for lifting that are not considered as lifting accessories. The explanations given in this document are consistent with the definition of ‘lifting accessory’ given in Article 2 (d) of the revised Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
